Ike Ekweremadu: Nigerian Laws Should Protect Citizens From Exploitation – Lawyer

Mr Jide Ologun, a Lagos-based legal practitioner, has called for stronger institutions and implementation of Nigerian laws to protect citizens from all forms of exploitation for a better nation.
Ologun made the call on Friday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He was reacting to the conviction of the former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, by a UK Court on Thursday.
Recall that Ekweremadu, his wife, and Nigerian doctor Mr.Obinna Obeta, were found guilty of attempted organ harvesting on a Nigerian trafficked to the UK to donate a kidney for his sick daughter.
Speaking on the development, Ologun said, “This means it does matter the office you hold in the land, if you flout the laws of the land, there shall be consequences, and that’s the example the UK is setting and some other countries of the world.
“And by extension, even those who haven’t started constituting a nuisance to society will learn from this, and it, therefore, has a preventive impact on society.
“Again, we’ve to use the laws of the land to protect the citizens from exploitation.”
