POLICE College, Kaduna, has fished out two professional robbers among the recruits undergoing training in the college

The college commandant, Sanusi Rufa’i, told newsmen in Kaduna that one of the robbers was sponsored into the school by a gang of robbers based in Abuja.

He said the second was identified during a court process in Kebbi State which implicated him.

Rufa’i, however, dismissed as untrue, reports that prospective candidates paid various sums of money to policemen to facilitate their admission

According to the commandant, a total of 25 recruits were dismissed from the college for various offences, including certificate forgery, age falsification, among others.

Ruafa’i accused politicians and traditional rulers for complicity in the admission of some of the recruits, noting that “these big people bring their candidates and insist such candidates must be admitted, whether they are qualified or not.”

On the robbers, who would have concluded their training in December, Rufa’i said “what brought about their dismissal is because I got a report from my colleague, the Area Commander, Kubwa, that one of the recruits undergoing training here is a robber.

“The police arrested his gang and they mentioned that they sponsored him to come and receive training here.

“And, about three months ago, from Kebbi State, we received another letter and we detected another robber. This one was from a court,” he said.
