WHAT WENT DOWN AT FACE OFF 2012

The Celebrity Basketball (Faceoff) 2012 was an event that was much anticipated and hyped on the popular social network sites like facebook and twitter even the blackberry messenger was not left out with people using the poster as display pictures. And of course I was at the event which took place at the Harbour Point VI. The event started with some freestyle from few celebrities who turned up at the venue on time, among such people was one of Nigeria’s talented film maker Kunle Afolayan and then the talented Actor, entrepreneur and creative comedian Ayo Makun popularly known as AY turned up at the venue quite early, I remember him being the 2nd person on the red carpet after the ushers had taken shots.

Next was the light-skinned Ex-beauty queen Munachi Abi. Stylishly dressed in a yellow tight fitted jean, black top and red heels then the team of the night Dodan Warrior also took shots on the red carpet, those guys really had a field day loving the paparazzi from the journalists who wanted perfect shots of the warriors. After taking some shots I decided to see what was going on in the venue, Ay had changed his cloths and already sweating it out with some freestyle on the basket court, Muna had also changed from the pretty cutie into an athlete, Kunle Afolayan had also changed into his black jersey, all three warming up for the game.

Then I sighted the cool DJ Jimmy Jatt already kitted and waiting for the game to begin.
Soon, the hall was filled with lots of sexy beautiful ladies in different shapes and sizes and of course there were guys in the hall as well. The game was about to start and the two teams, The Dodan Warriors and The Stars team were set…among the celebrities were Tiwa Savage, Muna, MayD, Dj Vinnie,Dj Neptune, 360nobs the list is endless. Some celebrities like Wizkid, Banky W, Davido, Wired Mc were not present but those around really made the event interesting.

The game started and lasted four hours, the music blasting from the speakers were so good, that each point he was to drop some cool beat, the spectators got up from their seats to dance. Tunde of the R&B group, Style Plus also gracved the event. Thought most people had forgotten that group existed but to my amazement the guest sang alone as the DJ played the group’s favourite track according to popular demand ‘Olufunmi’.

With much anticipation, Tuface was in the building and the crowd went ‘gaga’ at seeing him show up after the DJ had played three of his popular tracks, to my amazement, two ladies from no where rushed up to him as he sat and I’ll say they had a fun-filled day with the paparazzi shots…I remember one of the organisers pulling one of the girls away from the star. Oops! I forgot to mention that DonJazzy and Jimmy Jat were the coaches of The Star Team. After several rounds of the game, Wande Coal walked in, and there were several performances from some of the celebs and I certainly won’t forget the dance performance from the DNMT dance group. Their performance was fantastic, mind-blowing and they got a standing ovation from the crowd.

Another star attraction was also the performance of popular dancer, Kaffy with her husband ‘Pappy J’ on the drum-sets. The final round of the game was to begin, the sponsor of the event MTN gave out freebies to the player who had the best shot… A galaxy tap, Ipods and recharge cards were among the gifts given out to the winners.
