OTEDOLA VS LAWAN : TORI DON GET K – LEG.

The Federal Government is in a dilemma about the probe of the Farouk Lawan-Femi Otedola $620,000 bribery scandal. The government has been undecided whether to prosecute only Lawan, the suspended chairman of the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, who had confessed to receiving the bribe money or along with Otedola, the Chairman of Zenon Oil and Gas, who claimed that he gave the bribe in a sting operation.
We learnt that both Lawan and Otedola were recommended for prosecution by some legal minds in the Ministry of Justice. The ministry officials were said to have based their recommendation on the report of the Police Special Task Force that is investigated the scandal.
Some experts in constitutional law said the law equally criminalizes not only the person who is asking for a bribe, but also the person giving a bribe. So, both the taker (Lawan) and the giver (Otedola) should be prosecuted. However, there were speculations that there had been pressure on the Minister of Justice and Attorney -General of the Federation not to prosecute Otedola.
Una see say the tori don get k’leg.
